Recap: Tindal wins Metrolina Classic

On Sunday, May 18, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Metrolina Classic at Rock Hill Country Club. The course is home to the Winthrop University golf teams is a fantastic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 44 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division, Jaelyn Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 and won a two-hole sudden-death playoff to place first with a two-day total of 161. Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) shot nine over par with a score of 81 to place second with a two-day total of 161. Carley Cox (China Grove, 2015) shot five over par with a score of 77 to place third with a two-day total of 77.

The Futures Division, Sarah Fite (Russellville, KY 2017) shot 12 over par with a score of 84 to place first with a two-day total of 170. Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) shot 12 over par with a score of 84 to place second with a two-day total of 173. Ciaran Carlile (Evans, GA 2015) shot 14 over par with a score of 86 to place third with a two-day total of 177.

With their victory’s, Tindal and Fite both received class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up finishes, Collom and Wade both received class C exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Monday, May 24-26 with the PKBGT BELL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP @ Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, NC and the PKBGT FUTURES OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP @ Sapona Ridge Country Club in Lexington, NC. The tournaments brings together players from event brings together players from Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
