On Saturday, May 3, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Pennsylvania Classic at Heritage Hills Resort. Heritage Hills, home of the host of the state’s Interscholastic Athletic Association state championship for over 10 years and host to many prestigious junior tournament, is a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 24players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division, after round one, Rachel Lee (Woodstock, MD 2014) has a commanding lead at three over par with a score of 75. Behind Lee is Joey Mae Walz (Pittsburgh, PA 2015) at nine over par with a score of 81 and Kennedy Bodfield (St. Catharines, ONT 2014) at 10 over par with a score of 82.
The Futures Division, after round one, Josephine Jung (Ellicott City, MD 2016) is leading the field by one stroke at 10 over par with a score of 82. Not far behind Jung isAlissa Thompson (Parkton, MD 2015) at 11 strokes over par with a score of 83 and Mogie Adamchik (Raleigh, NC 2017) at 16 strokes over par with a score of 88.
Weather for Sunday’s round looks great with sunny skies temperatures in the mid 60s. It should be a great day for lots of birdies and low scores!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
