On Saturday-Saturday, May 3-4, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Pennsylvania Classic at Heritage Hills Resort. Heritage Hills, home of the host of the state’s Interscholastic Athletic Association state championship for over 10 years and host to many prestigious junior tournament, is a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 24 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division field features 9 golfers, highlighted by three of the top-60 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Joey Mae Walz (Pittsburgh, PA 2015) ranked 19th, Killian Casson (Ellicott City, MD 2015) ranked 52nd, and Adeena Shears (Elizabeth, WV 2016) ranked 60th.
The Futures Division field features 15 golfers, highlighted by four of the top-50 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Melanie Burgess (LaSalle, ONT 2016) in 13th position, Mogie Adamchik (Raleigh, NC 2017) in 20th position, Alissa Thompson (Parkton, MD 2015) in 29th position, and Kendel Abrams (New Freedom, PA 2018) in 46th position.
The Pennsylvania Classic brings together players from event brings together players from Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ontario, Canada. This is the PKB Tour’s first venture into Pennsylvania and despite a smaller field, it should be a great tournament!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
