On Sunday, April 27, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Paladin Classic at Furman University Golf Club. Furman, home of the Furman University Paladin men’s and women’s golf teams, is a classic course with tricky greens for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field of 63 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
In the Bell Division, Haylee Harford (Leavittsburg, OH 2015) shot six over over par with a score of 78 to placed first with a two-day total of 147. Lauren Lightfritz (Suwanee, GA 2016) shot five over par with a score of 77 to placed second with a two-day total of 150 and Savannah Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC 2014) shot three over par with a score of 75 to placed third with a two-day total of 153.
In the Futures Division, Taylor Lance (Travelers Rest, SC 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 to placed first with a two-day total of 154. Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to placed second with a two-day total of 155 and Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) shot nine over par with a score of 81 to placed third with a two-day total of 156.
With their victory’s, Harford and Lance both received class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With their runner-up finishes, Lightfritz and Montgomery both received class C exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.
PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4 with the Pennsylvania Classic @ Heritage Hills Resort in York, PA. The Pennsylvania Classic brings together players from event brings together players from Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ontario, Canada.
