Preview: Players Championship @ Chateau Elan

On Saturday-Sunday, February 16-17, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP @ Chateau Elan Resort (Chateau Course). Chateau Elan Resort (Chateau Course) is a challenging course for the first major tournament. The event features a field of 40 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.

The Bell Division field features 33 golfers, highlighted by 10 of the top 500 players nationally, including: Rinko Mitsunaga (Roswell, GA 2015) ranked 59th, Sloan Shanahan (Suwanee, GA 2013) ranked 137th, Kayla Jones (Alpharetta, GA 2014) ranked 191st, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017) ranked 283rd, Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) ranked 309th, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 320th, Diane Lim (Norcross, GA 2015) ranked 375th, Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013) ranked 390th, Carolyn Markley (Maineville, OH 2015) ranked 438th position, and Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) ranked 500th. Amanda Doherty (Atlanta, GA 2016), Erin Harper (Dublin, OH 2015), Kayley Marschke (Suwanee, GA 2016), Megan McLean (Lebanon, NJ 2016), and Julia Montgomery (Shelby Township, MI) will be playing their first PKB event.

The Futures Division field features 7 golfers, highlighted by two of the top 40 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 4th position and Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) in 17th position. Melanie Burgess (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada 2016) will be playing her first PKB event.

The PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP @ Chateau Elan Resort (Chateau Course) brings together the top players from Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and even Ontario, Canada. It should be an exciting & challenging event! Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
