Recap: Mitsunaga Wins Bulldog Classic

On Sunday, January 27, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC. University of Georgia GC, home of the University of Georgia Bulldogs men’s and women’s golf teams and the 2013 Women’s NCAA National Championship, proved a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field of 23 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.

In the Bell Division, Rinko Mitsunaga (Roswell, GA 2015) carded three over par with a score of 75 to place first with 73 + 75 = 148. Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) carded six over par with a score of 78 to place second with 74 + 78 = 152. Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015) carded nine over par with a score of 81 to place third with 83 + 81 = 164.

In the Futures Division, Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) nine over par with a score of 81 to place first with 89 + 81 = 169. Mckenzie Hedrick (Bishop, GA 2015) carded nine over par with a score of 81 to place second with 89 + 81 = 170. Kinsey Soniat (Simpsonville, SC 2013) carded nine over par with a score of 81 to place third with 97 + 81 = 178.

PKBGT returns next weekend on Saturday-Sunday, February 2-3 with the Chanticleer Classic @ The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC. This is the second tournament of the 2013 season, bringing together players from across Carolinas, Ohio, Maryland and Virginia.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
