Update: Brooks leads at Paladin Classic

On Saturday, April 27, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the first round of a very rainy Paladin Classic at Furman University Golf Club. Furman University Golf Club, home of the Furman University Paladin men’s and women’s golf teams, is a classic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 71 players. The field is strong with eight of the top 500 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and 17 players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

In the Bell Division, Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) is leading the field by four strokes at one over par with a score of 73. Not far behind Brooks is Allyson Markiewicz (Charlotte, NC 2013) in second place at five over par with a score of 77. Carly Burkhardt (Greenville, SC 2016), Haylee Harford (Leavittsburg, OH 2015), Kayley Marschke (Suwanee, GA 2016), Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC 2017), Cayla Smith (Easley, SC 2014), and Eunice Yi (Evans, GA 2013) are all tied for third place at six over par with a score of 78.

In the Futures Division, Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) is leading the field by one stroke at seven over par with a score of 79. Not far behind Branum is Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019) in second place at eight over par with a score of 80 and Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) in third place at nine over par with a score of 81.

Weather for Sunday looks is rainy with temperatures in the 60s. Despite the poor forecast, it should still be an exciting conclusion to this two-day tournament. Follow the action live at the scoreboard button below.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
