They say age is just a number- and 12-year old Bailey Shoemaker proved that at the PKBGT Invitational this past weekend.
Shoemaker, a 7th grader from West Edmeston, NY, made headlines with a top 10 finish against a field composed of elite, high school players, many of which have committed to play high level division I college golf. Her steady play gave her a 3 day total of 233 (77-78-78) and placed her in a tie for 9th place.
Shoemaker secured her spot in this year’s invitational by winning the New York State Girl’s Championship by 7 strokes, shooting a 2-day total of 144 (71-73). “It was a really fun tournament and I got to play with a bunch of my friends,” said Shoemaker.
Shoemaker birdied her last hole to edge into the top 10. “My last putt on 18 I made for birdie to tie Rylie [Heflin], it was really fun,” said Shoemaker.
With a top 10 finish, Shoemaker earned an invitation to the 2018 PKBGT Invitational. Congratulations Bailey!
