Greensboro, N.C. (May 1, 2026) \u2014<\/strong> PKBGT is excited and proud to announce the newest edition to our team. Sue Bower, a Dartmouth graduate and LPGA Futures Tour (now Symetra) player, brings an abundance of knowledge surrounding women’s golf and impressive business experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Having served on the boards of two nonprofit organizations in New Orleans, First Tee of Greater New Orleans and A\u2019s and Aces (A New Orleans-based tennis equivalent of First Tee), Sue has supported strategic planning, grant writing, and organizational growth initiatives. She looks forward to using this experience to help better PKBGT both as a tour and a non-profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Senior Director of the Foundation, Sue will be using her experience to help enhance the Tour and execute the newly-minted PKBGT Team Cup, a tournament dedicated to preparing top players for collegiate-style events. Furthermore, Sue will have an emphasis on progressing our foundation’s philanthropic efforts with our strategic plan launching later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have remained actively connected to Girls Golf of America since 2019, when Mike Parker and Robert Linville invited me to join the Board,” Bower said. “Over the past seven years, I have observed the remarkable growth of the Peggy Kirk Bell Golf Tour and am enthusiastic about contributing more directly to its continued success.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History and Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting Out<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Majoring in Psychology, Sue played collegiate golf at Dartmouth College from 1981-85. A driving force on the team, she earned an Honorable Mention All-American in 1985, making her the first-ever female Ivy League golfer named to an All-American team. She also won two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference titles and three New England Collegiate Championships in her time there, topping it off with being named a Dartmouth College Rufus Chaote Scholar for her effort in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduating, she played on the LPGA Futures Tour (now Symetra) from 1985-1988, finishing 18th on the money list in 1987. In 1989, Sue became the assistant golf professional at San Jose Country Club, where she continued to play impressively, winning numerous PGA and LPGA regional events and finishing in the Top-15 of the LPGA National Club Professional Division Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking Over Tulane<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Taking over as the Head Women’s Golf Coach at Tulane University following the 1992 season, Sue managed to transform a team ranked second-to-last in the NCAA Division I into a Top-50 team within four short years. In that time, she continued her own golf career, qualifying to play in the U.S. Women’s Open at Crooked Stick Country Club in Carmel, Ind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She held her position as head coach until 2006, earning many accolades like 11 coach-of-the-year trophies, three of which were gained in 2003 alone. Her ability shined most in her team, as she was leading players to producing 12 All-Conference USA honorees, a three-time C-USA Player of the Year, a trio of league Freshmen of the Year, two Louisiana Players of the Year, four LSWA Freshmen of the Year, and Tulane’s only National Golf Coaches Association All-American.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Than a Head Coach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After the damage from Hurricane Katrina, Tulane suspended several of its athletic program, including women’s golf. With this change, she pivoted to serve on the Tulane University Athletic Department executive team from 2006 to 2016 as Senior Athletic Administrator. Sue continued down the path of athletic administration, later becoming the Director of Athletics at St. Martin\u2019s Episcopal School (2016\u20132018), Guilford College (2018\u20132020), and the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans (2020\u20132026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the sudden shift to athletic administration following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Sue continues to remain dedicated to golf instruction. From 2016-2018 and 2020-2026, she served as the Director of Junior Instruction at English Turn Golf and Country Club, where she introduced more than 70 juniors to the game we all love and developed players who went on to compete in competitive high school and collegiate golf. Given the time, she plans to teach with Precision Golf Academy as well, so the chance to learn from her hasn’t ended!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour is an initiative of Girls Golf of America, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally-ranked girls\u2019 golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls\u2019 golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour with over 1,100+ members in 2025 and 1,000+ girls having played, playing in, or committed to playing collegiate golf.
