{"id":10746,"date":"2019-07-05T21:58:56","date_gmt":"2019-07-05T21:58:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=10746"},"modified":"2019-07-05T21:58:56","modified_gmt":"2019-07-05T21:58:56","slug":"19event57_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/19event57_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: 2019 PKBGT North Carolina Series at Pinewood Country Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Friday, July 5, the 2019 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> played the North Carolina Series at Pinewood Country Club in Asheboro, NC.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/about_series.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Prep Division<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clawing out a tough fought five-hole tiebreaker playoff, <\/span><b>Victoria Ladd <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Greensboro, NC 2019) edged <\/span><b>Grace Ridenour <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Cary, NC 2025) to take the championship in dramatic fashion! Both players posted scores of 79 (+7) to force the playoff before Ladd earned the victory. Ridenour departed Asheboro with runner-up honors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Behind the duo of challengers who battled it out in the playoff, <\/span><b>Tyler Spriggs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Cary, NC 2023) finished in third place on Friday afternoon. Spriggs posted an 83 (+11) on the day and closed out her round with a birdie on the final hole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rounding out the top four in the Prep division was <\/span><b>Shea Smith <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Charlotte, NC 2022). Smith finished in fourth place with an 87 (+15) and made one birdie at Pinewood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Futures Division\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If one tiebreaker playoff wasn\u2019t good enough, the Futures division ripped out an encore performance as <\/span><b>Emerson Dever <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Durham, NC 2025) bested <\/span><b>Katelyn Griggs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Lexington, NC 2022) by one stroke, making birdie on the second playing of the 10th hole. The pair entered bonus golf after posting regulation scores of 77 (+5).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sadler Miller <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Clayton, NC 2022) rode a strong front nine to third place, finishing with a final score of 79 (+7). She made two birdies in an even-par front nine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rounding out the top finishers, in fourth place was <\/span><b>Leah Edwards <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Greensboro, NC 2025). Edwards posted an 82 (+10) in her Friday afternoon performance.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Discovery Division<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red hot with a two-under-par 34 on the afternoon, <\/span><b>Elle Crichton <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Cary, NC 2026) ran away with the Discovery division championship. Crichton went on an absolute tear, ripping out five birdies in a row in the middle of her round.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking home runner-up honors, <\/span><b>Ellie Acrey <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Winston-Salem, NC 2026) closed out a strong round with four pars in a row. Acrey finished with a score of 40 (+4).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Riley Grimm <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(High Point, NC 2028) earned a third-place finish with a score of 41 (+5). Closing out the top finishers at Pinewood Country Club, in a two-way tie for fourth place were <\/span><b>Sanaa Carter <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Jacksonville, NC 2025) and <\/span><b>Reese Merrell <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Rockwell, NC 2026). Both players finished with scores of 43 (+7).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT North Carolina Series is back in action on Saturday, July 13 at Foxfire Resort and Golf in Foxfire Village, NC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf.
