{"id":10625,"date":"2019-06-09T21:12:53","date_gmt":"2019-06-09T21:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/?p=10625"},"modified":"2019-06-09T21:12:53","modified_gmt":"2019-06-09T21:12:53","slug":"19event88_recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pkbgt.org\/news\/19event88_recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: 2019 PKBGT Kentucky Series Kick-Off at World of Golf Executive Course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Sunday, June 9, the 2019 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> played the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tournaments.pkbgt.org\/Tournament\/TournamentDetails?TID=12302\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky Series Kick-Off at World of Golf Executive Course<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Florence, KY. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/about_series.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The inaugural season of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pkbgt.org\/schedule.php?TID=16\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky Regional Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in partnership with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kyjrgolf.bluegolf.com\/bluegolf\/kyjrgolf19\/schedule\/index.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kentucky PGA Junior Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, consists of six one-day events concluding with the two-day Series Finale in October. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Futures Division <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking home inaugural champions trophy in the Futures division was <\/span><b>Ava Bunker <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Franklin, IN 2026) after posting a score of 69 (+11) on the afternoon. Bunker made a birdie on the par-three 12th hole in topping the leaderboard on Sunday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finishing one stroke behind Bunker, <\/span><b>Emilie Bertram <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Falmouth, KY 2021) ended the afternoon as runner-up. Bertram posted a 70 (+12) on the day. <\/span><b>Reagan Ramage <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Burlington, KY 2025) finished in third place after shooting a 76 (+18) in her round. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a two-way tie for fourth place, <\/span><b>Abbey Brown <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Hamilton, OH 2023) and <\/span><b>Savannah Salchli <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Frankfort, KY 2023) rounded out the Top Five with scores of 80 (+22). <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Discovery Division<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Departing Florence with first-place honors in the Discovery division was <\/span><b>Kiera Yun <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Elizabethtown, KY 2027). Yun posted one birdie on the afternoon and shot a 42 (+7) in the inaugural event<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rebekah Hyatt <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Frankfort, KY 2027) finished in second place after posting a score of 65 (+30). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PKBGT Kentucky Series is back in action on June 22 at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tournaments.pkbgt.org\/Tournament\/TournamentDetails?TID=12297\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Battlefield Golf Course in Richmond, KY<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player\u2019s pace.
