On Saturday, June 1, the 2019 <\/span>Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a> played the <\/span>Middle Atlantic Series at Pendleton Golf Club<\/span><\/a> in Ruther Glen, VA. <\/span><\/p>\n

These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span>The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prep Division<\/b><\/h2>\n

Taking home the championship trophy in the 14 player Prep division was <\/span>Jessica Rathbone <\/b>(Montpelier, VA 2020). Rathbone finished the afternoon with an impressive score of 69 (-3) in winning the event at Pendleton Golf Club! She made six birdies on the afternoon including three in a row from the 11th to the 13th holes. <\/span><\/p>\n

In second place with a score of 72 (E) was <\/span>Ester Choi <\/b>(Midlothian, VA 2021). Choi made an equally impressive five birdies on the afternoon en route to a runner-up finish. <\/span><\/p>\n

Finishing in a tie for third place was <\/span>Josephine Nguyen <\/b>(Springfield, VA 2024) and <\/span>Alice Zou <\/b>(Potomac, MD 2022) who each shot a score of 78 (+6) on Saturday. Nguyen made a hole-in-one during her round! <\/span><\/p>\n

Rounding out the Prep division Top Five, in a three-way tie for fifth place was <\/span>Catherine Qiu <\/b>(Great Falls, VA 2024), <\/span>Rachel Detore <\/b>(Fredericksburg, VA 2020) and <\/span>Amelia Cho <\/b>(Ashburn, VA 2024). All players shot 80 (+8) on the afternoon. <\/span><\/p>\n

Futures Division <\/b><\/h2>\n

Leading the way in the Futures division was <\/span>Cailyn Park <\/b>(Fairfax, VA 2025) with a score of 83 (+11). In second place with a score of 84 (+12) was <\/span>Claire Kim <\/b>(Lorton, VA 2021). <\/span>Fannie Sukhumparnich <\/b>(Bethesda, MD 2024) finished in third place with a score of 86 (+14). <\/span><\/p>\n

Rounding out the top five in a three-way tie for fourth place was <\/span>Emily Wang <\/b>(Mclean, VA 2024), <\/span>Meg Lavinder <\/b>(Mechanicsville, VA 2024) and <\/span>Barett Butler <\/b>(Bristow, VA 2022). All three competitors finished with scores of 87 (+15). <\/span><\/p>\n

Discovery Division<\/b><\/h2>\n

Winning the Discovery division was <\/span>Sydney Neou <\/b>(Leesburg, VA 2027) with a score of 37 (+1). Neou made three birdies in taking home the championship trophy! <\/span><\/p>\n

Sanaa Carter <\/b>(Jacksonville, NC 2025) finished in second place with a score of 39 (+3). Her best success came with an eagle on the fifth hole! <\/span><\/p>\n

With a score of 43 (+7), <\/span>Raquel Walker <\/b>(Burke, VA 2026) finished the tournament in third place. Rounding out the Top Finishers, in a two-way tie for fourth place were <\/span>Samantha Nguyen <\/b>(Springfield, VA 2026) and <\/span>Tia Macdonald <\/b>(Midlothian, VA 2027) with scores of 44 (+8).<\/span><\/p>\n

The PKBGT Middle Atlantic Series is back in action on June 29 at Crofton Country Club in Crofton, MD. <\/span><\/p>\n

About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.<\/span><\/p>\n
