Update: 3 tied for lead at at PKBGT Masters

On Saturday, April 16, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the PKBGT MASTERS at Cutter Creek Golf Club. The conditions where tough with with persistent winds. Cutter Creek, home of the East Carolina University Pirates women’s golf team, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 84 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. 

In the Bell Series after round one there is a tie for first place between Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017), Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019) and Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, NC 2017) who are leading the field by two strokes at two over par, each with scores of 75. Not far behind the leaders are Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018), Castle, Jalen (West Columbia, SC 2020), Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019), and Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) are tied for fourth place at four over par, each with scores of 77.

In the Prep Series after round one, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) is leading the field by one stroke with a seven over par, round of 80. Not far behind is Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) with a score of 8 over par, 81 and a tie for third with Cynthia Zhao (Toronto, Canada 2018) and Mogie Adamchik (Raleigh, NC 2017) both at 9 over par, 82. 

In the Futures Series after round one, Caroline Crumrine (Wilmington, NC 2020) is leading the field by one stroke at five over par with a score of 78. Anna Moore (Wilmington, NC 2018) is in second with a round of six over  with a score of 79. Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, NC 2020) is in third at seven over with a score of  80.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s are in the forecast for Sunday. It should be a great weather for the final round of the tournament. Who will be golden?

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
