Thompson, McCann win One-Day Series @ Forest Oaks

On Thursday, July 5, the 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the One-Day Open Series @ Forest Oaks CC. Forest Oaks CC proved a challenging course for this one-day event. The event featured a field of 39 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

In the Bell Division, Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summitt, NC 2013) carded even par with a score of 72 to win the tournament. When asked about her second win on the PKB Tour this season, Thompson responded, “It feels good to win again.” Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) carded three over par with a score of 75 to place second and Jessica Kittelberger (Raleigh, NC 2014) carded seven over par with a score of 79 to place third.

In the Futures Division, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) carded seven over par with a score of 79 to win the tournament. Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) carded eight over par with a score of 80 to place second and Janie Thomas (Winston-Salem, NC 2016) carded eight over par with a score of 80 to place third.

PKBGT returns Monday, July 16 with the One-Day Open Series @ Rock Barn Golf & Spa (Jackson) in Conover, NC. It should be an exciting & challenging event.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
