Terrapin Classic @ University of Maryland GC Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 at the Terrapin Classic @ University of Maryland GC . The University of Maryland GC, home of the University of Maryland Terrapins men’s and women’s golf teams, is a challenging course for this two day event. The event features a field of 35  players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 24 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 20 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Allison Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015) in 15th position, Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013) in 16th position, Bryana Nguyen (Columbia, MD 2014) in 17th position, and Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) in 19th position.  There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Marissa DeCola (Butler, PA 2012) and Graysen Bright (Rockville, MD 2015).  Also, Allison Wong (Rockville, MD 2014) will be playing her first event as a Bell Division player at the Terrapin Classic.

The Futures Division field features 11 golfers, highlighted by three of the top 15 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Kristin Hearp (Salem, VA 2016) in 2nd position, Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015) in 13th position, and Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) in 15th position.  There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Lena Capoccia (Bethesda, MD 2018), Micaa’ Thomas (Bowie, MD 2015), and Ariana Dial (Clarksville, MD 2012).

The Terrapin Classic @ University of Maryland GC is the second event of the Mid-Atlantic Series, bringing together the top players in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. It should be an exciting & challenging event.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
