The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour (PKBGT) through its RecruitPKB initiative has established a program to provide scholarships for PKBGT members who wish to attend college. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be a high school senior
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
- Applicants must be a member of the PKBGT in the last 12 months
- Applicants must have a competitive interest in golf
- Applicants must demonstrate community involvement

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM GUIDELINES
QUALIFYING INSTITUTIONS: Scholarship recipients must attend any accredited public or private, four-year college or university located in the United States. Recipients must plan to enter college in the subsequent fall of the year the award is made with the goal of earning a recognized undergraduate academic degree in the time normally prescribed for the attainment of said degree. The recipient’s school of choice must be exempt from federal income tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Funds will not be issued for this scholarship unless the school maintains that exemption. Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate work only. Any changes in plans for college after notification of receipt of the scholarship must be given in writing to the scholarship director.
AWARDS: Awards become effective with the subsequent fall school term of the year the award is made, unless the student’s program begins sooner. One scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000. Funds are applied to educational expenses, including tuition, fees, and books. Checks will be made payable to and mailed directly to the colleges upon receipt of the Request for Payment Form. Scholarships are a one-time award, not to be renewed each year.
SELECTION OF WINNER: Scholarship applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, financial need and potential to succeed in the student’s chosen educational field. The PKBGT retains a Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of business and golf industry leaders. Award winners must have a strong showing of academic merit and personal accomplishment. Decisions of the RecruitPKB Scholarship Selection Committee are final. Justification for recipient selection(s) will not be released by the RecruitPKB Scholarship Selection Committee or any PKBGT employees.
The following factors are considered in the selection:
- Scholastic Performance & Aptitude: Based on class rank, GPA and results of the SAT or ACT tests. (Please provide a copy of transcript and test scores including a list of honors and AP courses taken.)
- Extracurricular Involvement: Their academic honors, leadership and community involvement.
- Personal Attributes: A letter of recommendation from a teacher or school administrator. Plus a letter of recommendation from someone related to golf (golf instructor or high school coach).
- Essay: The essay must include the student’s college and career plans. They must also include how playing golf has impacted their life and what the importance of girl’s golf can mean for their future plans.
- Statement of Financial Need: Applicants are required to demonstrate that they have financial need that warrants receiving this scholarship. It is not the purpose of the Scholarship Program to provide assistance to students who have sufficient means to pay for the costs of their golf development. This statement requires that you set forth your need in a manner that demonstrates that you will be unable or will have a difficult time meeting the costs of college without the assistance provided herein.
