PKBGT Event 15: Lane Gakeler wins Forest Oaks Open with a 74! Ansley Vaughan aces the difficult Hole #13! Greensboro, NC – The second summer event of the PKB Girls Golf Tour was completed today at Forest Oaks Country Club. The event was a huge success as lane Gakeler of Greensboro, NC took home medalist honors with a 74 and several other girls broke 80 on the difficult golf track. Also, the day featured a hole in one, as Ansley Vaughan, of Mt. Pleasant, SC knocked one in the cup from 155 yards on hole #13. Victory was sweet for Lane Gakeler as she captured her first PKB win of the year. “Lane has really been making some great progress and continues to work hard on her game. I know she certainly has the capability of bringing home some more top finishes this year, “stated her golf instructor, Chris Haarlow of Precision Golf School. “It was great to win early on in the summer, stated Gakeler. I look forward to using this as a confidence boost as I head into my big summer events.” Following the talented Gakeler were last week’s winner Madison Kennedy of Salisbury, Nc with a 78, Taylor Penzer of Summerfield, NC with a 78, Rachael Wright of Roanoke, Va 81, and “ace girl” Ansley Vaughan of Mt. Pleasant, SC with an 82. The Futures Division saw a tight race as Ashlii Thompson of Browns Summit, NC took home the one shot victory posting an 80. Following Thompson were Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC with an 81, Mary – Frances Hall of State Road, NC at 83, and Anna Gallerani of Greensboro, NC, Madison Clinard of Clemmons, NC and Sarah Spicer of Bahama, NC with 85’s.
