PKBGT Pinehurst Open Results
Kershaw posts 77 to win by 1 shot!
Southern Pines, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour hosted a one day event at Longleaf GC this weekend for their Pinehurst Open event. The famous Pinehurst track was well conditioned and its slippery greens paired with severe slope made low scoring difficult. Alexis Kershaw of Winston – Salem, NC battled through the elements as she posted a 36 – 41 –77 to take the one shot victory over last year’s champion Tara Simmons of Goldsboro, NC who posted 78 on the day.
Kershaw has played the Peggy Kirk Bell Tour over the last few years and continues to improve every year. “ I played great on the front and the back was playing pretty tough with the wind, but I knew if I hung around 40 I would have a great chance at a top spot finish,” stated Kershaw with her championship trophy.
Kershaw’s win earned her an exemption into the prestigious PKB Fall Invitational as well granting her a position of competition amongst some of the best players in the southeast.
Following Kershaw and Simmons were Lucia Polo of Guatemala at 79 and Kate Collom from Davidson, NC at 79, and Isabella Rusher of Salisbury, NC finished fourth with 80.
