PKBGT Masters Wrap-Up: Polo is golden

Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013) wins the PKBGT MASTERS @ Salem Glen Golf & CC and is the first PKB Tour player to be GOLDEN!

In the Bell Division, Polo carded one under par with a score of 70 to place first with 70 + 70 = 140. When asked about her win, Polo, “It’s hard to describe. I’ve been working really hard over the past month, so it felt good to make birdies and feels good to win.” Cecily Overbey (High Point, NC 2014) shot two over par with a score of 73 to place second with 73 + 73 = 146. Sarah Bae (Raleigh, NC 2013) carded four over par with a score of 75 to place third with 71 + 75 = 146.

In the Futures Division, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) carded three under par with a score of 68 to place first with 73 + 68 = 141. With her wins at the PKB Foundation Classic @ Pine Needles and the NC University Classic @ UNC Chapel Hill Finley GC, this weekend’s win makes Kim’s third PKBGT win of the 2012 season. When asked about her win, Kim said, “I always have a special energy in me whenever I win.” Kim’s round today ties her lowest tournament round to date. Kristin Hearp (Salem, VA 2016) shot four over par with a score of 75 to place second with 71 + 75 = 146. Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) shot three over par with a score of 74 to place third with 78 + 74 = 152.

PKBGT returns to action next week with the Terrapin Classic @ University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park, MD on April 21-22. This is the second event of the Mid-Atlantic Series, bringing together the top players in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. It should be an exciting & challenging event.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
