Thiagaraj, Badmaev, and Bae lead the The PKBGT Masters at Salem Glen Golf & CC
Clemmons, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tours’ first 2011 major event began today with oVer sixty girls in the field! The rain held off for the girls, but the fierce wind placed a premium on ball flight control. Some large numbers were all too easy to come by at the Glen, but three players managed to keep poised under the conditions and post fine scores of 2 over par 73. The three were Karishma Thiagaraj of Haymarket, VA, Kelsey Badmaev of Blythewood, SC and Sara Bae of Raleigh, NC.
The major truly displays the diversity of talent across the southeast states with the leaders themselves representing three different states. Six states are being represented this week featuring some of the top junior girl players in each state.
Equally or perhaps even more impressive, was the excellent play of Futures Division multiple winner, Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC who posted the only red number of the day with a three under par 68. Her round included 4 birdies and only one blemish giving her an astounding 13 shot lead headed into tomorrow.
As the girls await Sunday’s opportunity, all are hopeful that Mother Nature will hold off her tears for the finale.
