Peggy Kirk Bell girls’ golf tour hosts Williamsburg Classic
Thiagaraj reigns at Kingsmill
Williamsburg, VA—The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour hosted its thirteenth event of the year and first of its Virginia series at Kingsmill resort and golf club. All players enjoyed this extravagant experience enjoying the opportunity to compete on the same turf as their LPGA icons.
In the Bell Division, Karishma Thiagaraj trumped the competition posting a final round 73 to her already impressive 75 opener on the River Course earning her the double digit win and Williamsburg Classic Title.
“I hit a lot of great iron shots this week and I thought my proximity to a lot of these tough holes really helped me stay consistent and not have to scramble for pars. There are certainly some tough shots around the greens out here,” stated Thiagaraj after her round.
Through sweltering heat and a big first round weather delay, Karishma remained poised the entire event, her wire to wire win earned her an AJGA exemption and increased confidence heading into the heat of her summer competition.
The girls in the Bell division, displayed incredible focus and attitude, but when the dust settled, top five included:fifth place finisher, Jessica Spicer from Bahama NC (76-87—163).Fourth, Shannon Brooks from Vienna, VA (81-81-162). In third place, Jessica Merrill from Reston, VA (82-77-159). Finally, the runner up of the Williamsburg Classic went to Lauren Kruszewski from Chesapeake, VA (77-81—158).
In the Future division, Delaney Shah of N. Potomac, MD posted scores of 73 – 80 – 153 to earn medalist honors for the second time this year. The victory marked her second win this year with the first coming nearly a month ago at the PKBGT Furman Classic.
