Event Summary |
Thomasville, NC – The girls of the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour hosted nearly 40 girl golfers at Colonial Country Club this weekend. The rain lengthened the course considerably, but it was not enough to keep Anna Jenkins of Rock Hill, SC from posting a fine score of 78 for a two shot victory. Following Jenkins were Lily Yatawara of Salisbury, NC at 80, Lily Crane of Jamestown, NC and Erica Clinard of Clemmons, NC at 82, and Madison Kennedy of Salisbury, Rachael Wright of Roanoke, Va and Amanda Hampton of Waxhaw, NC at 84. The talented Jenkins looks to continue this momentum into next week as the tour heads to Salisbury, NC for its second major of the year at the country club of Salisbury. This three day Memorial Day weekend event for the Bell Division will feature over 80 girls including North Carolina’s top ranked junior, Katherine Perry, and the PKBGT’s Master at Pine Needles Champion, Lyberty Anderson of Chesterfield, VA. Also, the event will be nationally ranked by the Golfweek Sagarin national rankings. In the futures division, long time PKB player Emily Stinson of Charlotte, NC, proved perseverance and dedication can bring home the hardware as she captured her first PKB Futures Tour title posting 77. The score was the low round of the tournament earning her a seven shot victory in her division. Following Stinson were Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC and Isabella Rusher of Salisbury with an 84, Grace Yatawara of Salisbury, NC, Sarah Spicer of Bahama, NC, and Taylor Trent of Reidsville, NC with 87.
