One-Day Open Series @ Salem Glen Golf & CC Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Sunday, August 26 at the One-Day Open Series @ Salem Glen Golf & CC. Salem Glen Golf & CC is a challenging course for this one-day event. The event features a field of 32 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 13 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 50 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Sarah Bertram (Concord, NC 2013) in 35th position, Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) in 35th position, Meagan Board (Roanoke, VA 2014) in 45th position, and Alexis Kershaw (Winston Salem, NC 2014) in 50th position. Emma Kaper (Purmerend, Netherlands 2014) and Amanda Wyrick (Stokesdale, NC 2013) will be playing their first PKB event this season. Also, Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) will be playing her first event as a Bell Division player.

The Futures Division field features 19 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 35 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015) in 10th position, Victoria Hedrick (Lexington, NC 2014) in 22nd position, Brittany Smith (Stanley, NC 2013) in 28th position, and Tessa Young (Cornelius, NC 2014) in 33rd position. Hailey Barajas (Mooresville, NC 2018), Rafaela Dizon (Cary, NC 2014), Caroline Jones (Eden, NC 2014) and Tiffany Sana (Simpsonville, SC 2014) will be playing their first PKB event this season.

The One-Day Open Series @ Salem Glen Golf & CC is the ninth one-day event of the season, bringing together the top players from the Carolinas and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
