One-Day Open Series @ Devils Ridge GC Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Thursday, July 26 at the One-Day Open Series @ Devils Ridge GC. Devils Ridge GC is a challenging course for this one-day event. The event features a field of 23 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 6 golfers, highlighted by some of the top players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Maddie Lee (Cary, NC 2013) in 110th position and Sophie Riegel (Cary, NC 2014) in 101st position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, NC 2012) and Alexandra Watson (Trent Woods, NC 2012).

The Futures Division field features 17 golfers, highlighted by three of the top 10 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 6th position, Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) in 9th position, and Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) in 10th position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Christy Johnson (Raleigh, NC 2015), Lauren Merrill (Pittsboro, NC 2014), Natalie Petersen (Holly Springs, NC 2017), and Caroline Rea (Pinehurst, NC 2017).

The One-Day Open Series @ Devils Ridge GC is the seventh one-day event of the season, bringing together the top players from the Carolinas and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
