Howard claims first PKBGT title at Clemson University

SC University ClassicEvent 4 on the 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is the in the books with the SC University Classic @ The Walker Course at Clemson University.  Many thanks to Head Professional Brent Jessup at the Walker Course and his staff and members who did a stand up job hosting the event.  In addition, thanks to Brandi Jackson, owner of Brandi Jackson golf for her speaking on the college recruiting process at the PKBGT Experience on Saturday.

On the course, a fierce battle of three South Carolina players was the story of the day following a breezy day 1 on the links.  In the end, Eden Howard’s (2014, Lamar, SC) 76, including four birdies including holes 16 and 17 were enough for the victory.  Howard finished the two-day event with scores of 77-76-153.  Finishing in second was Day 1 leader Nicole Chin (2014, Irmo, SC) with scores of 76-78-154.  Third and fourth place were claimed by the low scorers of Day 2.  Makalyn Poole (2015, Williamston,SC) and Cecily Overbey (2014, High Point,NC) both shot 2nd day 73’s to finish at 83-73-156 and 85-73-158 respectively.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
