Featured Pairing: Round 1, PKBGT Open Championship

The PKBGT is back in action this weekend at the historic Country Club of Salisbury, home to a PKBGT Tour event since the tour’s inception in 2007. A Donald Ross Classic, the country club is home to Catawba College’s women’s golf team and a favorite on the PKBGT schedule.

The Bell field this week is one of the strongest of 2018, coming in just behind the PKBGT Tarheel Classic this past March. The 2018 Open Championship features the strongest and highest ranked Futures field of the 2018 season.

Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021), the 2017 Bell Order of Merit and 2017 PKBGT Invitational Champion, is currently ranked 1st on the PKBGT Performance Index, 16th on the PKBGT Order of Merit and is ranked 120 nationally for junior girls (Junior Golf Scoreboard). Sambach joins the field this week after receiving a sponsor’s exemption to compete in the LPGA Symetra Tour’s Symetra Classic at River Run CC in Davidson, NC. Amanda shot rounds of 79-74 in her professional debut last week.

Rounding out the pairing is Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC, 2021) who has had arguably one of the best performances in 2018 thus far. Katherine is currently ranked first on the PKBGT Bell Order of Merit and took home her first PKBGT victory of the year at the Orange Whip Classic in February. She also posted 2-runner up finishes and 2 top-10’s in her 7 starts this year. In addition, Katherine won the 2018 Drive Chip and Putt Championship (Girls 14-15) held at Augusta National in April. She is currently ranked 5th on the PKBGT Performance Index and 341st nationally (Junior Golf Scoreboard).
