Greensboro, N.C. (Aug. 28, 2026) — With just a week to go before the inaugural PKBGT Team Cup kicks, here is everything to know about our newest combined stroke and match play event.
About the Event
The PKBGT Team Cup is a collegiate-team-style event that will include 36 holes of stroke play and three rounds of match play between teams, held over Labor Day weekend at Brunswick Plantation Golf Club. This event is the first event of its kind as it mimics the structure of the ACC and NCAA National Championships, offering elite junior players valuable competitive experience in a format they will see when they are competing collegiately.
The 36-hole stroke play will be nationally ranked as a tournament for individual rankings. The two 18-hole rounds will be played in a team format, with five players playing, but only the top four scores in each round count to the team score. The eight teams with the lowest team score will advance to a compass draw championship bracket. Meanwhile, the bottom four teams will play in a round robin consolation bracket.
In the match play rounds, each team match will include five singles match-play matches. The pairing order for each match will be determined by the individual results from the stroke play competition. Each team’s stroke play medalist will play in the anchor match. At the conclusion of the first day, an award will be presented to the stroke play champion. Following the conclusion of the third and final match, awards will be presented to the championship-division champion and runner-up, and the consolation bracket’s champion.
Schedule
Friday, Sept. 4, will kick things off as players meet their teams before their practice rounds. Practice rounds will played with teams practicing together as fivesomes to spend more time getting to know each other. Lunches, sponsored by Jersey Mike’s, will be provided to players all four days of the tournament, including the practice round day. After the conclusion of practice rounds, the U.S. National Development Program will be hosting a Fireside Chat, followed quickly by a Player Welcome Party and Cookout.
The first day of competition will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, where players will play a continuous 36 holes in carts. Lunches will be provided on the course for players. The top four scores in each round will count towards the team score, with the eight lowest 36-hole scores placing teams in the championship bracket. The stroke play medalist will be named following the conclusion of play on Saturday.
The first round of match play will begin as a double tee at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, as five individual matches per team match, walking. Lunches will be provided in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the first match. The second match will begin at 1:00 p.m., with matches set based on the standings from the first match as teams begin to move through the brackets.
The third and final day of competition play will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, with teams battling it out one last time. Lunches will be provided in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the event, with the final awards ceremony immediately following. With that, we will have our inaugural champions of the PKBGT Team Cup!
Inside the Field
The inaugural PKBGT Team Cup will host 12 teams made of five top-ranked girl’s golfers in the country. Teams were selected to represent different states/regions of the country, with select U.S. National Development State Junior Team programs participating. The remaining teams will be created by the PKBGT, selected by the tournament committee, with their national ranking profile, including PKBGT Performance Index and Junior Golf Scoreboard national ranking, taken into consideration.

USGA National Development Program
The PKBGT Team Cup is supported by the USGA National Development Program (USNDP), with Team Minnesota being comprised of five players from Minnesota’s USNDP team. Individual players in other teams also play for their individual state’s USNDP team as well.
All players listed above with an asterisk next to their name are some of the 17 players that are part of a USNDP team.
Brunswick Plantation
Brunswick Plantation and Golf Resort, the host location for the inaugural PKBGT Cup, is a gated golf course community, just north of the South Carolina border but still part of the larger Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. With three nine-hole courses, Magnolia, Azalea and Dogwood, this Byrd-Johnson design also features a full-length driving range, a short game area with practice bunkers and a vast putting green. The entirety of the PKBGT Cup will be contested on the Azalea and Magnolia nines.
