Bodfield leads after round 1 @ Waterford GC

On Saturday, October 13, the 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the CAROLINA’S Invitational Qualifier @ Waterford GC. Waterford GC proved a challenging course for day one of this two-day Invitational Qualifier. The top four finishers in the qualifier will receive automatic entry into the PKBGT INVITATIONAL @ Grandover Resort (East Course) in November. The event features a field of 20 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The field features 20 players highlighted by six of the top 45 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists. After round one, Kennedy Bodfield (St. Catharines, Canada 2014) leading the field by one stroke with a score of 78. Not far behind Bodfield is Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) and Jaelyn Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2015) tied at seven over par with a score of 79. There are three other girls within five strokes of the leader.

Weather on Sunday looks sunny and ideal for scoring. It should be an exciting end to the second Invitational Qualifier of the fall season.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
