The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Saturday-Sunday, June-July 30-1 at the Bash at the Bay @ Kingsmill Resort (River/Woods). Kingsmill Resort, home of the 2012 LPGA Kingsmill Championship, provides two challengings course for this two-day series. The event features a field of 45 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
The Bell Division field features 26 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 30 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013) in 10th position, Allision Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015) in 12th position, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) in 24th position, and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) in 26th position. Also, Ariana Dial (Clarksville, MD 2012), Kristin Hearp (Salem, VA 2016), Maddi MacClurg (Cary, NC 2013), Megan Martin (Chesapeake, VA 2015), and Maegan Ports (Charlotte, NC 2013) will be playing their first event as a Bell Division player. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Amellia Boyer (Suffolk, VA 2013), Christina Herbert (Williamsburg, VA 2014), and Erin Penland (Greer, SC 2012).
The Futures Division field features 19 golfers, highlighted by five of the top 30 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 6th position, Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015) in 8th position, Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) in 13th position, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) in 18th position, and Carley Cox (China Grove, NC 2015) in 27th position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Sarah Baldwin (New Kent, VA 2013), Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), Scotti McGowan (Southern Pines, NC 2015), and Lauren Zachar (Springfield, VA 2014).
The Bash at the Bay @ Kingsmill Resort (River/Woods) brings together the top players from the Carolinas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
