Recap: PKBGT Open Championship at CC of Salisbury

On Monday, May 28, the 2018 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the final round of the PKBGT  OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP at Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, North Carolina. Salisbury, home of the Catawba College women’s golf team, has been a host course for the PKBGT since 2007. The PKBGT Open Championship is one of the longest running Championship events in PKB history, going on its 10th year at the Country Club of Salisbury. The event features a strong field of 90 players from Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia in the Bell National and Futures National Series of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. The event, ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings, is the fifth championship tournament of the 2018 season. 

There was a two-way tie for 1st place after the final round of the PKB Open Championship! The Champion of the the Bell National Division is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) winning the 2nd playoff hole with a birdie and finishing the weekend with scores of 76-73-68-217. Finishing runner-up with scores of 74-71-72-217 is Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2020). Melissa Meng (Blacksburg, VA 2020) finished in 3rd place with scores of 73-72-73-218. There was a two-way tie for 4th place. Finishing in 4th place is Kara Carter (Kingsport, TN 2021) with scores of 75-72-72-219. Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) finished in 5th place with scores of 70-77-72-219.

The Champion of the Futures National Division is Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022) with scores of 72-68-77-217. Finishing runner-up with scores of 76-76-72-224 is Grayson Warren (Washington, NC 2021). Ella Kue (Kings Mountain, NC 2023) finished in 3rd place with scores of 78-77-74-229. Finishing in 4th place is Amber Mackiewicz (Virginia Beach, VA 2023) with scores of 74-79-76-229. Macy Pate (Boone, NC 2023) finished in 5th place with scores of 74-80-78-232.

The PKBGT is back in action June 2-3 for the Maryland Classic at Laytonsville GC in Gaithersburg, MD. Also, on June 2 the PKBGT hosts the Central Florida One-Day Event at Interlachen CC in Winter Park, FL. There is still time to register!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
