The PKBGT returned to action on March 24th with the North Carolina Classic in Lexington, NC. The event features 60 players of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They tackled the course at 5,750 yards in the Prep division and at 5,200 yards in the Futures National division.
Due to weather accumulation overnight and the unplayable course conditions, Round 2 of the North Carolina Classic at Sapona Ridge CC was cancelled. In consultation with the golf course and the rules officials, they did not feel the course conditions were safe or playable under the rules of golf with the amount of rain/snow accumulated overnight.
The champion of the Prep Series after the conclusion of the North Carolina Classic at Sapona Ridge Country Club was Sasha Hayes (Winston-Salem, NC 2020) with a posted score of 77. Just 4 strokes behind the lead in second place is Maria Atwood (Holly Springs, NC 2022) with a score of 81. Currently in a tie for third place are Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) and Kerington Lamb (Easley, SC 2018) with a score of 82. Currently in fifth place with a score of 83 is Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018).
Due to inclement weather on Saturday, the Futures National Division was shortened to 9 holes. At the conclusion of the event the Futures National champion was Annabelle Millard (Indian Trail, NC 2022) with a posted score of three over par, 38. Just one stroke behind the second place is Hannah Lydic (Ocean View, DE 2022) with a posted score of 39. Sitting in third place after a first round score of 40 is Cori Langford (Blythewood, SC 2020). Currently in fourth place with scores of 42 is Kalina Siehl (Fort Mill, SC 2021). In fifth place after a scorecard playoff was Averi Cline (Suwanee, GA 2022) with a score of 43.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
