Tournament Summary
Chapel Hill, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour hosted the UNC Finley Classic this weekend at UNC Finley GC. At the end of two days, Sarah Bae of Raleigh, NC emerged as the champion posting three under – 69 on Sunday to win by 8 shots.
Bae’s victory was her first two – day event win on the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour. Her final round performance demonstrated the type of talent that is rapidly emerging in Carolina’s girls’ golf.
The sixteen year old from Raleigh has always demonstrated the talent but this week she proved her ability to win as she coasted to victory.
Following Bae were first round leader Bryana Nguyen of Columbia, MD and Lyberty Anderson of Chesterfield, VA at 151, Katie Kirk of Davidson, NC at 152 and Elyse Smidinger of Crofton, MD at 158.
In the futures division, Mary – Frances Hall brought home the medalist honors posting a two day total of 161 to win by five shots over Shannon Brooks of Vienna, Va and Taylor Trent of Reidsville, NC who posted two day totals of 166. Following them was Grace Yatawara of Salisbury, NC at 182 and Lauren Waller of Canonsburg, PA at 183.
The tours next stop will be a one day event this Sunday at Stonebridge GC in Monroe, NC. The next two –day event for the tour will be March 27 &28th at Bermuda Run CC West course in Advance, NC.
