Update: Kuehn leads PKBGT Invitational After 36 Holes

— Live Scoring —

Grandover Resort (East)It was another eventful day of play at the PKBGT Invitational.  Scores for round two were higher in general today despite having a day free of rain.  Still, there were players who did improve after day one.  There was even a hole-in-one today on the 150-yard 16th hole by Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville, TN 2019).  Congratulations Alyssa!

Of the 33 players to make the cut, Rachel Kuehn (Ashville, NC 2019) has the sole lead by three strokes over three players who are tied for second at 150.  Kuehn played solidly all day, making four birdies and 11 pars on her round.  The players who are tied for second are Sarina Sonoda (Florence, SC 2016), Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) and Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018).  It is still anyone’s tournament and it will be exciting to see who will come out with a victory after tomorrow’s round!

The culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments has finally brought us to the PKB’s most prestigious event of the year–the 2015 Invitational. The field for this year’s event features players from 14 different states, making it one of the most diverse fields the PKBGT has ever seen for a single tournament.  Players have earned their spot into the Invitational by finishing at the top of the PKBGT Orders of Merit, winning their state championship, playing in Invitational qualifiers, or earning an at-large bid.  The Grandover Resort East course will be played at 6,200 yards and is expected to be an exciting test for even the best PKBGT juniors.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
