Update: Hawkins, Sambach Leading after Round One of the Srixon Tour Championship

The first round of the PKB Srixon Tour Championship began today at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.  It was a great day for golf today and the ideal conditions were reflected by the great rounds posted.  Leading the Prep Series with a two-under 69 is Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018). Following Hawkins at one over par is Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) and in a five-way tied for third is Casey Burroughs (Wake Forest, NC 2016), Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018), Yuna Sato (Bufflton, SC 2016), Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) and defending champion Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) at two over par 73.

In the Futures Series, leading the field with a one-over 72 is Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021). In second place by one stroke is Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, NC 2020) at two-over par.  In a three-way tie for third at five-over 76 is Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019), Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019) and Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019).

Play in the Srixon Tour Championship continues tomorrow with round two.  After the second round, the field will be reduced to the top 50% and ties.

The SRIXON TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2015 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. At the conclusion of the event, invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL will be extended to the top-30 players from the PKBGT 2015 Bell Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-15 players from the 2015 PKBGT Prep Division Order of Merit rankings, the top-five players from the 2015 PKBGT Futures Division Order of Merit Rankings, the top-three players on the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Series Order of Merit, the number one player on the 2015 Futures One-Day Division Order of Merit, and the top-30 finishers on the PKB Performance Index. The PKBGT will also recognize any state junior amateur champion at the Invitational. This tournament will bring together players from Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. It will be a great tournament!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
