Update: Smyth, Conner leading Chanticleer Classic

On Saturday, July 18, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Chanticleer Classic at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University. The Hackler Course, home of the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers women’s golf teams, is the only university golf course on the Grand Strand and a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 33 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Prep Series after round one, Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018) is leading the field by two strokes at one under par with a score of 71. Not far behind Smyth is Sarah Funderburg (Wilmington, NC 2018) at one over par with a score of 73 and Megan Sabol (Martinez, GA 2016) at five over par with a score of 77.

In the Futures Series after round one, Amanda Conner (Irwin, PA 2017) is leading the field by three strokes at three over par with a score of 75. Not far behind Conner is Jordan Guyton (Columbia, SC) at six over par with a score of 78 and Jayla Rogers (Wilmington, NC 2019) at seven over par with a score of 79.

Partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 90s are in the forecast for Sunday. Looks like a great day for the final round!
