On Saturday, July 11, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the One-Day Open Series at Forest Oaks Country Club. Forest Oaks, former home of the PGA Tour Greater Greensboro Open, is a great course for this one-day tournament. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field 51 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Prep Series field features 10 golfers, highlighted some standout players on the 2015 PKBGT Performance Index, including: Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015), Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020), and Janie Thomas (Winston-Salem, NC 2016).
The Futures Series field features 41 golfers, highlighted by some standout players on the 2015 Futures Series Order of Merit list, including: CRiley Hamilton (Reidsville, NC 2020), Kristen Holman (Raleigh, NC 2016), Grace Huffman (Lexington, VA 2018), Lauren Nee (Cary, NC 2018), Emelia Pack (Browns Summit, NC 2019), and Emma Reid (Fletcher, NC 2018).
The One-Day Open Series at Forest Oaks Country Club brings together players from Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great event!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
