Update: Crowded leaderboard at UNC

On Saturday, March 7, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Tar Heel Classic at the UNC Finley Golf Club. Finley GC, home of the UNC Tar Heels women’s golf team, is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 83 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event is ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings and is the largest classic tournament of the season.

In the Bell Series after round one there is a three-way tie for first place between Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018), Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), and Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017). The three are leading the field by one stroke at one over par, each with scores of 73. Not far behind the leaders are Caroline Curtis (Richmond, VA 2019), Aneka Seumanutafa (Frederick, MD 2019), and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) in a three-way tie for fourth place. The three shot two over par, each with scores of 74.

In the Futures Series after round one, there is a tie for first between Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) and Anna Morgan (Spartansburg, SC 2019). The two are leading the field by one stroke at five over par, each with scores of 77. Not far behind the leaders is Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) at six over par with a score of 78 and Parker Melting (Mint Hill, NC 2018) at seven over par with a score of 79.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s are in the forecast for Sunday. It should be a great weather for the final round of the tournament

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
