On Sunday, October 5, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the 6th Annual Jimmy Anderson Junior Girls’ at Jacksonville Country Club. The event was a partner event between the Carolinas Golf Association & the PKB Tour. The event featured a field of 42 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The participants will be vying for four coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in November.
Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) shot even par with a score of 72 for a two-day total of 143 to place first. Chang has won this event two years in a row. Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) shot one over par with a score of 73 to for a two-day total of 146 to place second and Killian Casson (Greenville, NC 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 for a two-day total of BLANK 151 place third.
With their outstanding performance this weekend, Chang, Migliaccio, Casson, Caroline Curtis (Glen Allen, VA 2019), Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015), LeAnn Domitrovits (Newport, NC 2015), and Natalie Petersen (Holly Springs, NC 2017) received invitations into the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. PKBGT returns to on action on Saturday, November 1 with the Last Chance Fall Preview @ Forest Oaks CC in Greensboro, NC.
The tournament held ever year is to honor Jimmy Anderson, the former head golf professional at Jacksonville Country Club for over 25 years. Each Saturday morning, he conducted a junior golf clinic to help spread the game of golf to the next generation. During his tenure at Jacksonville CC, he taught many juniors including numerous future collegiate and golf professionals. Not only did he teach the game of golf, but was always there with a helpful word of encouragement to any young golfer.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
