On Monday-Wednesday, August 11-13, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. Pine Needles, host the US Women’s Open in 1996, 2001, and 2007, is among the most well know golf courses in the southern US and a ideal setting for the final open major championship of the PKB Tour regular season. The event features a field 66 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division field features 47 golfers, highlighted by 13 of the top-50 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 3rd, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 8th, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 9th, Jaelyn Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2015) ranked 12th, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) ranked 20th, Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) ranked 21st, Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) ranked 27th, Emily Salamy (Williamsburg, VA 2015) ranked 35th, Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) ranked 37th, Joey Mae Walz (Pittsburgh, PA 2015) ranked 39th, Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) ranked 40th, Grace Yatawara (Salisbury, NC 2016) ranked 42nd, and Jessica Kittelberger (Raleigh, NC 2014) ranked 44th.
The Futures Division field features 19 golfers, highlighted by seven of the top-25 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including:Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) ranked 1st, Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) ranked 2nd, Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) ranked 3rd, Ellis Hunter (Greensboro, NC 2016) ranked 8th, Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) ranked 19th, Mogie Adamchik (Raleigh, NC 2017) ranked 20th, and Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) ranked 21st.
The TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP marks the end of the regular 2014 season. A lot is at stake at this event, including many invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL in November. At the conclusion of the event, invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL will be extended to the top-five players from the PKBGT 2014 Bell Division (Prep Series) Order of Merit rankings, the top-three players from the 2014 PKBGT Futures Division Order of Merit rankings, and the top-30 players on the PKBGT Performance Index. The tournament brings together players from Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be great tournaments!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
