Recap: Freed wins Commonwealth Classic

On Saturday, August 1, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the Commonwealth Classic at Lexington Golf & Country Club. The course is home to Washington & Lee University golf teams and was a great course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 12 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Bell Division-Prep Series, Elizaveta Freed (Alexandria, VA 2014) shot two over par with a score of 74 to place first with a two-day total of 147. Eunbbie Kim (Potomac, MD 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 to place second with a two-day total of 157. Graysen Bright (Rockville, MD 2015) shot six over par with a score of 78 to place third with a two-day total of 160.

With her victory, Freed received a class A exemptions into the Tournament of Champions this fall. With her runner-up finish, Kim received a class C exemptions into the Tournament of Champions.

PKBGT returns to action on Monday, August with the One-Day Open Series @ Chapel Hill CC in Chapel Hill, NC. The event brings together players from North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
