On Saturday, March 29, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Boar’s Head Inn Classic at Birdwood Golf Course at UVA. Birdwood, home to the University of Virginia men’s and women’s golf teams is an excellent course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 43 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
In the Bell Division, after round one, Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) is leading the field by three strokes at one over par with a score of 73. Not far behind Shah is
Bryana Nguyen (Columbia, MD 2014) at four over par with a score of 76 and Adeena Shears (Elizabeth, WV 2016) at five over par with a score of 77.
In the Futures Division, due to rainy weather and wet conditions, play was postponed and will be completed in addition to Sunday’s round.
Weather for Sunday’s round is less than ideal with wind, rain, and temperatures in the mid 40s. Despite the forecast, it should be a exciting conclusion to the final event of March Mania!
