Recap: Felthousen wins at ECU

On Saturday, May 18, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first One-Day Open Series at Ironwood Golf & Country Club. Ironwood, home of the East Carolina University Pirates men’s and women’s golf teams, is a top-notch course for the first One-Day tournament of the 2013 season. One-Day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field of 33 players.

The Bell Division, Marley Felthousen (Powells Point, NC 2013) shot even par with a score of 72 to place first. This was Felthousen’s first victory on the PKB Tour. Kendra Dalton (Wake Forest, NC 2014) shot one over par with a score of 73 to place second. Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, PA 2015) shot three over par with a score 75 to place third.

Due to a two and a half hour rain delay, the Futures Division was shortened to a nine hole tournament. Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) shot one over par with a score of 37 to place first. Tessa Young (Cornelius, NC 2014) shot four over par with a score of 40 to place second. Alex Berg (Summerfield, NC 2014) shot seven over par with a score of 43 to place third.

PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Monday, May 25-27 with the OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP at Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, NC. This is the third major championship of the year, bringing together 96 players from Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event! Who will be golden?
