On Saturday, May 18, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the first One-Day Open Series at Ironwood Golf & Country Club. Ironwood, home of the East Carolina University Pirates men’s and women’s golf teams, is a top-notch course for the first one-day tournament of the 2013 season. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event features a field of 33 players.
In the Bell Division, the field features 14 golfers, highlighted by some highly ranked players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit list, including: Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, PA 2015), Marley Felthousen (Powells Point, NC 2013), Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015), and Kendra Dalton (Wake Forest, NC 2014). Taylor Cozart (Taylorsville, NC 2016), stand-out golfer in the Futures Division, will be playing her first event in the Bell Division this weekend.
In the Futures Division, the field features 19 golfers, highlighted by six of the top 30 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) ranked 8th, Diana Cristina Domenech (Richmond, VA 2018) ranked 12th, Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 19th, Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017) ranked 23rd, and Samantha Bennett (Wake Forest, NC 2016) and Casey Burroughs (Wake Forest, NC 2016) both ranked 29th.
The PKBGT would like welcome Maggienella Basile (Morrisville, NC 2016), Ashtyn Felthousen (Powells Point, NC 2017), Elizabeth Hall (Durham, NC 2015), Kit McHutchison (Durham, NC 2015), Faith Sronce (Hickory, NC 2014), Raegan Swartz (Cary, NC 2015), and Elizabeth Warner (Richmond, VA 2015) who will be playing their first PKB event this season.
The One-Day Open Series @ Ironwood Golf & Country Club brings together players from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. Weather for the weekend looks sunny with temperatures in the 80s with a chance of thunderstorms. Despite the chance of inclement weather, it should be a great weekend for the first One-Day Open Series of the season!
