Preview: Carolinas Classic at Carolina Trace

On Saturday-Sunday, May 11-12, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Carolina’s Classic at Carolina Trace Country Club (Lake Course). The Lake Course, host site of North Carolina’s 2013 US Women’s Open Qualifier on May 30, is a difficult course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 51 players. The field is strong with six of the top 300 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard and 11 players ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

The Bell Division field features 35 golfers, highlighted by six of the top 300 players ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Bailey Tardy (Norcross, GA 2015) ranked 103rd, Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013), ranked 157th, Eunice Yi (Evans, GA 2013) ranked 168th, Kelsey Badmaev (Blythewood, SC 2013) ranked 226th, Taylor Dodson (Aiken, SC 2013) ranked 266th, and Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 281st. 10 Bell Division players are ranked inside the top 100 for their class by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Kayla Ward (Raleigh, NC 2018) ranked 47th, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 53rd, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 61st, and Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 69th.

The Futures Division field features 16 golfers, highlighted by six of the top 25 players on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) ranked 7th, Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 16th, Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) ranked 20th, Aubrey Patti (Winston Salem, NC 2015) ranked 20th, Elizabeth Nguyen (Pinehurst, NC 2017) ranked 22nd, and Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017) ranked 25th. Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) is ranked inside the top 100 for her class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

The Carolina’s Classic @ Carolina Trace CC (Lake Course) brings together players from Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Weather for the weekend looks sunny with temperatures in the 80s. Should be a great weekend for the Carolina’s Classic!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
