On Saturday-Sunday, February 9-10, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Cape Fear Classic @ River Landing (River Course). River Landing, host of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Seahawk Classic, is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 22 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
The Bell Division field features 15 golfers, highlighted by five of the top 900 players nationally, including: Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) ranked 308th, Claire Hodges (Sorrento, FL 2017) ranked 370th, Jordan McKelvin (Westminster, MD 2015) ranked 511th, Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) ranked 666th, and Shannon Gramley (Sharon, PA 2013) ranked 864th. Leigha Holt (Holly Springs, NC 2014) and Kayla Ward (Raleigh, NC 2018) will be playing their first PKB event.
The Futures Division field features 7 golfers, highlighted by two of the top 40 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Susannah Ireland (Wake Forest, NC 2017) in 30th position and Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, VA 2016) in 40th position. Brook Vann (Charlotte, NC 2014) will be playing her first PKB event.
The Cape Fear Classic @ River Landing (River Course) brings together the top players from the Carolinas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
