On Sunday, November 11, the 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the second round of the PKBGT INVITATIONAL @ Grandover Resort (East Course). Host of the annual Bridgestone Golf Collegiate tournament, the 2012 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf regional tournament, and the 2011 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf National Championship, Grandover Resort (East Course) is a challenging course for this three-day event. The event features a field of 53 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
After round two, Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013) is leading the field by four strokes at four over par with scores of 71 + 77 = 148. Not far behind Polo is Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) in second at eight over par with scores of 73 + 79 = 152. Alexandra Farnsworth (Nashville, TN 2014) is in third at nine over par with scores of 77 + 76 = 153. There are five other players within seven stokes of the leader. For Championship Monday, the field was cut to the lowest 30 scores plus ties.
The PKBGT INVITATIONAL is the fifth and final major of the year, bringing together the top players from the Carolinas, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. Who will be golden? The weather for Monday looks sunny with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Ideal for scoring low. It should be an exciting conclusion to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL tournament.
