The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Saturday, April 28 at the One-Day Open Series @ Sapona CC. Sapona CC, site of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifier, is a challenging course for this one-day event. The event features a field of 65 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
The Bell Division field features 33 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 30 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013) in 2nd position, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) in 20th position, Alaina Yeatts (Durham, NC 2014) in 25th position, and Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) in 27th position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Sydney Legacy (Lexington, SC 2014) and Isabella Rusher (Salisbury, NC 2015). Also, Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) will be playing her first event as a Bell Division player at Sapona CC.
The Futures Division field features 32 golfers, highlighted by five of the top 20 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Katie Turk (Blacksburg, VA 2015) in 9th position, Elizabeth Rand (Asheville, NC 2013) in 12th position, Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) in 13th position, Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) in 19th position, and Jesse Long (Mooresville, NC 2013) in 20th position. There are 12 Futures players new to the tour this season.
The One-Day Open Series @ Sapona CC is the first one-day event of the season, bringing together the top players from the Carolinas and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event.
