Anderson, Lui lead after round 1 of Richmond Classic

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off this weekend with the Richmond Classic @ Hunting Hawk GC. Hunting Hawk GC is a challenging course for this two day event. The event features a field of 35 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 14 players highlighted by two of the top 10 players of the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including returning 2010 event champion, 1st position on the Order of Merit list and hometown girl, Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, VA 2014). After round 1, Anderson is leading the field by 3 strokes with a score of 69. Not far behind Anderson is Delaney Shah (North Potomac, MD 2016) at even par with a score of 72 and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) at 3 over par with a score of 75.

The Futures Division field features another strong field with 21 players from across the region. In her first PKBGT event of the 2012 season, Amber Liu (Vienna, VA 2016) is leading the field at 3 over par with a score of 75. The close second is Naomi Mitchell (Norfolk, VA 2018) at 4 over par with a score of 76.  The day was challenging due to a rain delay mid-round.  Fortunately, weather reports for round 2 look clear and low scores are in the forecast.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
