PKB Girls Golf Tour Hosts Chapel Hill Open
Thompson takes top place honors with 76 !
Chapel Hill, NC – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour hosted the Chapel Hill Open on Monday at Chapel Hill Country Club. The girls’ did great battling the high temperatures of the day and the hot score of the day belonged to Ashlii Thompson of Browns Summit, NC who fired a 76 !
Thompson stated after her win, “After the rain delay I knew that I needed a birdie to win this week. I was excited to pull it off. It was a great first win after knocking on the tour the last few events.”
Thompson’s round started out solid as she posting 37 on the back, and with a final iron shot on eighteen to within a foot from the hole Thompson inched her way under 40 and took home her first title with a four over par 76.
Following Thompson was Amanda Hollandsworth of Floyd, VA at 77, Tailar Murphy of Greensboro, NC at 81, and Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC and Erica Gallerani of Greensboro, NC both posted 84 .
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour will head to Bryan Park GC next month for their final Major Event of the year for the PKBGT Precision Girls’ Junior Championships. This unique event will include younger division play as well as a novice division suiting beginner girls that are interested in competitive golf. Also, the event will finalize the 2011 Order of Merit List and determine who will earn an invite to the prestigious PKBGT Fall Invitational event in November.
