Cary,NC—The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour posted its fourth event of the year  this weekend at Lochmere Golf Club in Cary NC. The field consisted of over forty girls spanning from Maryland to South Carolina with the winner of the event, Karishma Thiagaraj of Haymarket, Virginia, capturing the Cary Classic Title by three shots with scores of 76-79—155.

Great weather was matched by great play this weekend as Thiagaraj went wire to wire capturing her first PKB title this year. Navigating around the creek that is within the lochmere monster, Thiagaraj’s steady play kept her in the driver seat for most of the tournament.

The win could prove to be good timing increasing her confidence coming into next weeks big  PKB tour event at the notorious UNC Finley Golf Course for the PKBGT UNC Classic.

Following her performance Thiagaraj noted, “It was nice to win this week after being so close to a win at the first major on tour a few weeks ago. I played solid yesterday, but today I struggled a bit at the beginning  of my round and as the day progressed I began to find my rhythm and was pleased retained the lead in route to earning my first title on the tour this year.”

Thiagaraj proved resilient this week after losing in a three way play off in the PKB’s Masters event  at Salem Glen. This win will place her near the top of the 2011 Order of Merit heading into a talent packed event this coming weekend.  

Following Thiagaraj were Alaina Yeatts of Durham, NC at 158 (77-81), Taylor Penzer of Summerfield, NC  at 161 (80-81), Taylor Allison of Elizabeth City, NC at 161 (79-82),and Eden Howard of Lamar, SC at 162 (82-80).

The Futures Division featured a stellar victory by Jennifer Chang as the youngster posted a final day 74 earning her a 13 shot victory for her second win on tour this year!

Following Chang were Delaney Shah of N. Potomac, MD at 167 (88-79), Taylor Trent of Reidsville, NC at 167 (83-84), Grace Yatawara of Salisbury, NC at 168 (83-85), and Megan Munroe of Reaeford, NC at 169 ( 85-84).

The PKB Tour will host its fifth event of the year this weekend as a strong field will gather for the UNC Classic at UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, NC.
